November 1, 2020 – Pastor’s Corner

I would like to thank all of you for the great support that you have shown for our High School Youth Group with the Ice Cream sales, and for our Hispanic Ministry with their tamales sales. We brought in over$1,800 with the sale of tamales! The Archdiocese of Louisville has kicked off the annual “Catholic Services Appeal” which helps to fund the various ministries throughout the archdiocese.I had delayed starting it here in the parish due to how many things that we have had going on, but we will have brochures and envelopes out beginning this weekend. The Catholic Services Appeal funds several ministries and offices that have been very helpful to us here at St. Helen and Our Lady of the Caves, including the Marriage Tribunal, the Office of Worship (which helped us pull off Confirmation this summer), and the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry (which helped us take some of our Youth Group to the March for Life). It would be great if we showed a good number of parishioners supporting the Appeal –even relatively small contributions help!Remember that Monday, November 2nd is All Souls Day:a special day in which we pray for our deceased relatives, friends, and fellow parishioners. You can gain a plenary indulgence for a Soul in Purgatory by visiting a cemetery each day in November, this year (under the usualconditions:Mass and Holy Communion, Confession within 21 days, prayers for the Holy Father’s intentions, and complete detachment from all sin).We will be having 5 Masses on All Souls Day –the greatest prayer that we can offer for our departed loved ones!
