November 15, 2020 – Pastor’s Corner

November 21st is the Feast of the Presentation of Mary in the temple. This feast celebrates the tradition that the child Mary was presented to Almighty God when she was around 3 years old, and that she grew up (at least part of her childhood) in the Temple of Jerusalem. This year, we are going to try to start a new tradition in our parish, one which comes from our Mexican brothers and sisters:any parent who has a 3 year old girl is invited to bring her to a special Mass at 2:00 PM at St. Helen’s on that Saturday, Nov. 21st.There will be a little ceremony to offer your daughter, like Sts. Joachim and Anne did, to the Lord. All girls who come to that Mass will be invited to come to present roses to Our Lady.Although all Catholics should have a real and deep devotion to Our Blessed Mother, it is a beautiful practice to foster this devotion in the hearts and souls of our young girls, since Mary is the perfect model of womanhood. If you plan to present your daughter to the Lord on the Feast of the Presentation, please let me know so that we plan accordingly.God bless you all!
