PASTOR’S CORNER
Dear Parishioners:
Today, as I write this, I am celebrating my Silver Jubilee — 25 years
as a Priest of Jesus Christ! It is with profound gratitude that I think
over these past 25 years, remembering the thousands of persons
who the Lord Jesus has placed in my path. Some have ministered
to me, encouraged me, challenged me to grow and to go deeper in
my priestly and religious vocation. Others have been sent my way
for me to minister to them, to preach, to bless, to hear their
confessions, to offer Mass for them and for their loved ones, to
baptize their children, prepare them for marriage, and to
accompany them as they bury their loved ones.
As I near the end of my time here at St. Helen and Our Lady of the
Caves, I am in awe of the many people who have touched my life,
and whose lives I have touched. I ask that you continue to pray for
me as I answer the call back to the missions in obedience to my
religious superior.
This past Sunday, we had many young people who received their
sacraments: 8 Baptisms, 7 Confirmations, and 15 First Holy
Communions! Congratulations to all our young people who have
taken these important steps in their life of faith!
This Sunday, we celebrate the great Feast of Pentecost, when the
Holy Spirit came down upon Mary, the apostles, and other disciples
with “tongues as of fire.” May this same Holy Spirit continue to
come upon all of us with His seven-fold gifts of wisdom,
knowledge, understanding, counsel, piety, fortitude, and fear of
the Lord! May the Spirit of Truth help us to live always in the Truth
who is Jesus Christ, to seek the Truth in all things, and to conform
our minds, wills and hearts to the Truth which we find in Christ and
in His One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.
I hope that all of you will stop by the Parish Center on Sunday, June
12th, for the celebration of my Silver Jubilee. And I would like to
invite all of you to the Fathers of Mercy on Sunday, June 19th, for
the 10:00 AM Mass on the Feast of Corpus Christi, which will be
followed by our community’s celebration of my Jubilee (with a
cookout)!
