PASTOR’S CORNER
Dear Parishioners,
Our whole goal in life, our reason for existing, is to be united in
eternal love with the Blessed Trinity and the family of God in
heaven. If we gain the whole world and lose this, we have
nothing. Everything we think, say and do should be for this
end. So the way we act, the way we treat others and the way we
speak of others really matters. “Whatever you do to the least of
My brethren, you do to Me.” The way we worship also
matters. We don’t go to Mass because our favorite hymns are
sung. We don’t go to Mass to hear a great homily. We don’t go to
Mass because there are no hypocrites. We go to Mass to give the
perfect worship God deserves, the participation of the Sacrifice of
Jesus Christ. We hope to aim the liturgy of St. Helen and Our Lady
of the caves to that end. The music, the rubrics and the prayers are
aimed to create a sacred atmosphere so that all of us can have our
hearts focused on God. May we all work together to achieve that
end.
Also, a little favor, please. When a votive candle has not been
burned entirely out, please do not blow it out to light a new
one. Someone left a donation to burn that votive candle. Please
do not extinguish them before they are finished. Our Blessed
Mother Mary and St. Joseph, who intercede for us when we light
our candles, would appreciate it. Thank you! And may God bless
you all!
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Joel
